Hello, I'm posting a critique because it was a requested underneath this photograph.
What I don't like about this:
This photograph looks very edited. It looks like it was hard lined, especially on the hair area. Your skin look very edited too, like it was blushed out, and smoothed, AND a contrast effect on it. One more thing that bugs me about this piece is the- backround. Backrounds like that just don't mix well with photographs like this.
What I like about this piece: I like your eyes a lot, they way they look is nice with the shot, and your shirt. the two different shades of blue match nicely together and really give the watcher something to look at next to your black hair. The position of your hand is very nice for this, The white hand on the black hair is very nice looking and frames that area of the shot.
Overall: I enjoy your technique on this for the most part. 3.5 stars Because: Your hand/your eyes/the blue shades & too much editing
Originality: 2.5 Because: this is just a self portrait, it's over done, and it feels like it's lacking thought being put into it, and maybe just a filler picture.
Vision: 2 Because: It doesn't seem like much artist intelligence was put into this, and leaves me fairly disappointed.
Impact: 3 Because: This was actually difficult for me to pick. 2? 3? 4? who knows? I picked 3 because, I was impacted by this, but not impacted by this a whole lot.
